Create Project

Attention

Information

  • You can create projects
    • directly
      • from the user menu via links or via respective buttons in various modules, provided that the authorized users have access to the respective work areas and modules.
    • or indirectly
      • by converting ideas or proposals to projects.

Create Projects Directly via the Link in the User Menu

Procedure
  • Click on the New Project link in the user menu.
  • The Project panel with the focused Project Core Data module is opened.
    • The ID number for the new project is generated automatically and is immediately visible in the module header.
  • Enter the Project name for the new project in the field alongside the ID number in the module header.
    • Here, the Please enter a name dialog is displayed by default.
  • Define the most important core data of the project, e.g. project manager, dates, Requested start, Requested end, etc. and other data in the description fields by making a selection from the listboxes.
  • Save.

Note

  • The same procedure also applies if you create a project by clicking on the New project button in several modules, e.g. from the Projects module, etc.

Details

  • The creation of further project data, like e.g. defining stakeholders, creating a schedule, etc. can be done, e.g., by the project manager. Must be defined in the Project manager field of the new project.
  • It is possible to define which exact rights a user must possess in order to carry out particular project activities. This is controlled via the project_rights_xxx Python files and can be changed by the customer to meet individual requirements which deviate from PLANTA Standard.
  • Every newly created project is locked against work reporting by default and must be unlocked upon project start by deactivating the Locked checkbox.
  • If the newly created project is to be planned and controlled in line with a process model, the required process model must be activated when the project is created. For the procedure, see here.

Create Projects by Converting Proposals

Procedure
  • Create and plan an idea or a proposal via the links of the same name in the user menu ( New idea , New proposal ) or via the respective buttons in various modules.
    • The procedure here equates to the procedure for the creation of a new project (for description, see above).
  • Convert an idea or a proposal to a project by changing its planning object type
    • either directly by changing the Type in the planning object itself,
    • or by carrying out the respective step in the process model, provided that you work with a process model.
