Master Data Entry

Attention

• Since master data entry includes the deletion of particular demo data which was automatically installed in the installation process, we expressly recommend that the master data entry be carried out together with your PLANTA consultant or that you consult your PLANTA contact person before entering master data.

Information

• In order to be able to plan and control projects with PLANTA project, master data (basic data), like e.g. person, user, resource, calendar, etc., must be entered in the PLANTA system.

Notes

• For the initial entry of master data you need access rights to the modules of the PM administration role. This role is contained in the customizer user P20 which is included in the delivery. In order to log on with this user, you need a password, which will be provided to you by your PLANTA consultant upon request.
• For later entry or for changing master data, you can assign the PM administration role to an entitled user.

• For each of the steps mentioned under Procedure, an especially designed editing module is available in the PM administration role in the Master Data work area. The links on the individual steps lead to descriptions of the respective module.

Procedure

• The following steps are required in order to be able to work with the PLANTA system.
  • Enter persons and person properties
  • Enter users and assign roles
  • Define calendar

The entry of mandatory data is clearly illustrated in the Create Persons, Person Resources, Users, and Roles tutorial on the basis of application cases.

• The following steps are optional. Which of them are actually necessary depends on your individual requirements and on your planning strategy. PLANTA already makes standard master data available for certain steps, which can be changed if necessary, otherwise you can also enter entirely new individual data.
  • Create resources if you intend to plan your projects based on resources.
  • Create skills
  • Cost master data cost centers, cost types, conversion factors
  • Create checklist templates
  • Miscellaneous listbox values
  • Create systems
  • Create process model templates and define process rules
