    Assign Resources to the Tasks

    Assign resources to a task

    • Right-click on the required task (window 1) or on a resource already assigned to this task (window 2) and select Insert Resource from the context menu.
      • A new resource record is inserted.
    • Select the required resource from the resource listbox.
    • Define the required resource parameters.
      • When the resource was assigned to the task, several parameters have already been filled with default settings from the Resource Data Sheet (e.g. Load profile, Cost type). These values can be changed manually here.
      • Attention: If you change the default values for one of the resources assigned to the task and then copy this resource assignment to one of the further tasks, previously changed settings will be included instead of the default settings of the resource.

    Procedure
    • Right-click on the resource the effort of which is to be reduced and select the Add resource for distribution command or Insert Resource for distribution.
      • The record for the new resource is inserted.
    • Select the resource to which the effort is to be distributed from the listbox.
    • Enter the required value in hours in the value to be distributed field and save.
    • NEW Click on the Distribute effort button at the bottom left margin of the module.
    • Result: The effort of the source resource is reduced and that of the target resource is increased.

    New from DB 39.5.7

    • Right-click on the selected resource and select the Distribute effort command from the context menu.
    • Result: The effort of the source resource is reduced and that of the target resource is increased.
    • Refresh display via F7. If the new resource had not been assigned to the current task, it is now displayed.

    Notes

    • When efforts are distributed, possibly existing Requested starts and Requested ends of the source resource are transferred to the new resource.
      • If the effort is distributed to an already existing task resource which already has a Requested start and a Requested end, Requested start and Requested end of the target resource are overwritten by Requested start and Requested end of the source resource.
      • This behavior cannot be activated or deactivated. Workaround: Add dates manually on the target resource or apply the required dates directly when distributing the effort of the target resource. The respective requested date fields are hidden on the distribution record by default and must be displayed manually if necessary.
