Search in Module

Objective

  • To search for a string in a module

Procedure

  • Activate (open) the required module.
  • Display the search bar at the bottom of the screen via:
  • enter the required search string in Search:
    • The mouse scrolls automatically to the first match that is colored green.
      • If you cannot see the match, it maybe in the hidden part of the data field (the field is short).
  • You can navigate to the further matches using:
    • the Down button or the F3 key.
      • The cursor jumps to the next hit (down). The hit is colored green.
    • the Up button or SHIFT + the F3 key.
      • The cursor jumps to the previous hit (up). The hit is colored green.

Details

  • The search bar is module-related, i.e. it is not visible if another module is activated. To search in a newly opened module, you have to open its search bar.
  • Back in the previous module, you can focus the Search field by pressing CTRL + the F key.
    • If a string is already available, it will be marked.
  • If the Search field is focused, you can close the search bar using the ESC key.
  • Other Functions
    • Upper/lower case button (ALT + G)
      • Defines whether case-sensitivity is taken into account in the search
    • Highlight button (ALT + H)
      • Defines whether all hits are highlighted in yellow
    • Use regular expressions button (ALT + R)
      • Defines whether the search string is to be interpreted as a regular expression

Notes

From C 39.5.0

  • Every time you enter a new character in the search string, the new search is performed for the complete string.
  • As soon as no more matches are found for the current string the search field is colored red and it make no sense to add further characters to the string.
  • NEW Text on buttons is excluded from the search.
