How to Use the OCI Prefetch Number to Tweak the Server Performance
The OCI Prefetch Number tells the Oracle Client Interface how much records of a resultset it should fetch at once. Setting this value low increases the number of roundtrips to the Oracle-Server, setting it high increases the amount of memory OCI reserves and thus the baseload of PLANTA Server. One has to balance the Prefetch Number between those two parameters according to the individual system's latency and memory. As a reference you can use the charts below that are based on data created on a clean system with ~150000 records coming from database-server.
