Project (Idea, Proposal) panel Dependencies

This module is used for the Ideas, Proposals, and Projects planning objects. In the following description, the word project represents all three planning objects.

Information

From DB 39.5.0

In this module, projects are displayed
- on which the completion of the current project depends (Dependent on area).
- NEW and for the completion of which the selected project is required (Required for area), provided that the selected project has been selected in the respective projects in the Dependent on area.
New dependencies can be created for the selected project.

In this module, projects on which the completion of the current project depends, are displayed and newly inserted.
New dependencies can be created for the selected project.

Create dependency for the current project

From DB 39.5.12

Click on the NEW Assign dependent projects button.
- A dialog module with all projects is displayed.
- NEW Select the required project from the list by activating the Select checkbox and click on the Assign marked button.
- A dependency record in which the selected project is displayed, is created automatically.
- The Req. end , Calc. end, and Manager fields contain data from the respective project.
- If required, you can enter a comment in the Comment field.
Save.

From DB 39.5.7

Click on the Insert dependencies button.

A dialog module with all projects is displayed.
Select the required project from the list and click on the link on the ID of the project.
A dependency record in which the selected project is displayed, is created automatically.
The Req. end , Calc. end, and Manager fields contain data from the respective project.
If required, you can enter a comment in the Comment field.

Save.

Up to DB 39.5.7

Create a new record for a dependency by clicking on the Insert dependency button or by right-clicking on the area header and selecting the Insert Dependency command from the context menu.

Select the required project from the listbox on the Dependent on field.

The Req. end , Calc. end, and Manager fields contain data from the respective project.

If required, you can enter a comment in the Comment field.

Save.

Details

The dependencies created and displayed in this module are of purely informational nature. They have no effect whatsoever on the schedules of the affected projects.
There are two ways to illustrate dependencies between projects in PLANTA project:
- by displaying the external tasks in your own schedule (they have no effect on the task dates of the connected projects).
- via external links (they have an effect on the task dates of the connected projects).

Notes

The dependencies can be created by users with (multi-project manager, project manager, or multi-portfolio manager rights). If the user does not possess the required rights, the button is not displayed and the insert entry in the context menu is not available.
It is not possible to create a dependency to the project from which you try to create the dependency.
