Change Planning Object Type
Information- Planning object type determines whether the present planning object is an idea, a proposal, a project, or a program.
- Here, the first three types map the so called planning stages: With idea being the lowest stage and project being the highest stage. It is hence possible to convert a planning object to an immediately higher or lower planning object type by changing the planning stage of the respective planning object. I.e. an idea can be turned into a proposal and a proposal can be turned into a project or vice versa.
- Since programs are no planning stage of planning objects but are only used for bundling projects, no conversion mechanism can be applied to them.
- There are two options for changing planning object types:
- Change via process models: It is possible to create a process model in which a transfer from one planning object type to another is carried out by transfer from one process phase to the next phase in the course of an approval process, e.g. from idea phase to proposal phase.
- Such process models (with the respectively defined conversion rules) are contained in the PLANTA Standard scope of supply and can be used as a template for the creation of individual models.
- either directly by changing the planning object type in the Type parameter in the required planning object,

- Convert idea to proposal
- Switch to the Idea module variant in the Main and Subprojects (in Tabular Form) module.
- Display the hidden (window 9) Type column.
- Select the value “Proposal” for the required idea from the listbox in the Type field.
- Save.
- The idea has now been turned into a proposal. It is saved in the database and is now listed as a proposal in all respective modules.
- When you click on the link on the ID field, the Proposal panel is now opened instead of the Ideapanel.
- Convert proposal to project
- Switch to the Proposal module variant of the Planning Objects (in Table Form) module.
- Display the hidden (window 9) Type column.
- Select the value “Projects” from the listbox in the Type field.
- Save.
- The proposal has now been turned into a project. It is saved in the database and is now listed as a project in all respective modules.
- When you click on the link on the ID field, the Project panel is now opened instead of the Proposal panel.

- Convert idea to proposal
- Switch to the Idea module variant in the Main and Subprojects (in Tabular Form) module.
- For the required idea, select the "Proposals" value in the Type name field.
- Save.
- The corresponding idea is converted to a proposal and saved in the database.
- If you open the appropriate proposal modules, the new proposal is listed there and if you click on the link on the ID field of the new proposal it is opened in the Proposal panel.
- Convert proposal to project
- Switch to the Proposal module variant of the Planning Objects (in Table Form) module.
- For the required Idea, select the "Projects" value in the Type name field.
- Save.
- The corresponding proposal is now converted to a project and saved in the database.
- If you open the appropriate project modules, the new project is listed there and if you click on the link on the ID field of the new project it is opened in the Project panel.

Procedure: Convert idea to proposal
- In the Main and Subprojects (in Table Form) module, switch to the Idea module variant.
- For the required idea, select the "Proposals" value in the Type name field.
- Save.
- The corresponding idea is converted to a proposal and saved in the database.
- If you open the appropriate proposal modules, the new proposal is listed there and if you click on the link on the ID field of the new proposal it is opened in the Proposal panel.
- In the Main and Subprojects (in Table Form) module, switch to the Proposal module variant.
- For the required Idea, select the "Projects" value in the Type name field.
- Save.
- The corresponding proposal is now converted to a project and saved in the database.
