Change Module Variants via the Customizer

Information

• Below you will find the description of editing options for module variants for users who possess customizing rights.
• When using module variants, it does not matter, whether a module variant was created by a normal user or by the customizer.

Here you can find information on module variants for users without customitzer rights (regular users).

Details

• The customizer
  • has the same editing options as the user, e.g.
    • Modify column (field) width
    • Change column (field) order
    • Display and hide columns (fields)
    • Change order within columns
    • Change filter criteria and fulfillment if necessary
      • In order to save changes made to filter criteria you have to switch to the module variant and save there.
  • additionally has the following options:
    • change the data area layout
    • edit forms with the form editor
    • Make changes to the customizing settings of the module variants in the Option Module For MV
  • additionally, the customizer can
    • change module variant names
    • change general module variants
    • delete general module variants

Attention

• A module variant is not saved as complete module in the database. Only the difference in customizing between the basis module and the variant is saved. Hence, upon customizing in modules with module variants, it is important that you note the following:
  • If a new data field is to be inserted in a base module, the module variants have to be considered. If you want the field
    • not to be displayed in the module variant, you have to hide it there.
    • to be displayed in the module variant, the sequence of the fields in the module variants must be checked and possibly adjusted.
  • If you only want to insert a new field in one module variant, you have to insert it at the last position in window 9 of the basic module. Afterwards, you have to display it in the corresponding window in the module variant.
  • If you want a data field not to be displayed in the basic module any longer, you have to check first, whether it is to be displayed in the module variants
    • If not, the data field can be deleted.
    • If yes, the data field must be moved to window 9 in the basic module and afterwards it must be moved back to the window in the variant in which you want it to be displayed
  • If any changes are made to the data area customizing of the basic module, the module variants must be checked in order to find out whether these changes are wanted there.
    • If not, the change must be undone in the module variants.
      • Example: If a data area in the basic module is set to output, this parameter must be activated in the module variant again if necessary.
  • If a data area is replaced in the base module, this data area applies to all variants and the variants must be adjusted if necessary.

Change General Module Variants

Information

• In order to make changes to general module variants, they have to be transformed into individualuser-specific module variants.
• After the required changes have been made, the corresponding module variant will be set back to the “General” status.

Procedure

Tip

• After the module variant was assigned to the own user, it can be defined as favorite by activating the Favorite checkbox. As a result, this variant is displayed directly when the module is opened.
  • If the module variant is assigned to the "-" (empty) user again, the Favorite parameter should be deactivated again. Otherwise, the module variant will be the favorite for all users and no user can change this.
