Cost types are used to break down, summarize, and calculate costs. You can define a structure for cost types.
Cost types correspond to cost or activity types which are otherwise customary.
By specifying a parent (higher level) cost type, the structure can be defined for a summarized representation of costs.
Before creating the cost types, you have to make the following decisions:
How deep is the cost recording supposed to go?
Are conversion factors to be assigned to the cost types as well?
Cost types that have no conversion factor are used exclusively for summarizing costs.
Cost types with conversion factor take effect upon cost calculation.
The P/A/R loads are multiplied by the conversion factor. If a conversion factor has been entered on the resource as well, the factors have an additive effect.
A cost type can be specified for the resource assignment and in each individual load record.
Cost types can be grouped (cost type groups). In user modules, costs and effort (e.g. the Budget module) are displayed summarized to the cost type groups.
Create Cost Types
Procedure
Insert a blank record:
If no cost types are available, click on the Insert button.
If some cost types already exist, activate the required cost type and click on the Insert button or right.click to select the Insert Cost type context menu command.
When selecting revenue cost types, no cost type group is assigned in the Cost type group name because
all resource type data is summarized in column0-4 (cost type group column).
the revenue resource data (resource type = 8) is not summarized in this group, but treated as an independent one.
in the Column field, the value 0 is automatically entered so that revenue resource data can be summarized in this independent group.
Assign Cost Type To The Resource
Procedure
In the Resource Data Sheet module, select the required resource and in the Default cost type field select the cost type which will be automatically applied when the resource is planned.
Save.
Change Cost Type per Load Record
Procedure
Upon resource assignment, the default cost type can be changed for each separate load record:
Open the Schedule module with the Base variant for the respective project.
Select the resource to which a cost type is to be assigned.
Display the Cost type field in the load record (expand the tree structure of the resource) and select the required cost type from the listbox.
Save and recalculate the schedule by clicking on the calculation button in the toolbar.
Notes
Cost types of existing load records are not overwritten in recalculation.
If the cost type on the resource assignment is changed, the schedule must be
