  • Information

    • If the module is opened via Portfolio Management Portfolio Resource Simulation of all Portfolios, all portfolios including all projects, proposals, and ideas are displayed.
    • If the module is opened from a particular portfolio via the Resource simulation button, only this very portfolio is opened including all contained projects, proposals, and ideas.

    Note

    • Since in programs and requests no resource planning is carried out, they are not simulated with respect to the resources either and are therefore not contained in the Resource simulation module.

    Carry out resource simulation

    • Log on as user R41.
    • Plan resources in the required planning objects
      • For projects, the resources are included in the Schedule.
      • For ideas and proposals, the resources are included in the Outline Plan module.
    • Log on as user R70.
    • Open the required portfolio in the Portfolio module and assign the required planning objects.
    • Click on the Resource simulation button. As a result, three module tabs are loaded in the panel: Resource simulation, Utilization and Utilization by skills.
    • Check the utilization of the required resource in the Utilization and Utilization By Skills modules.
    • Switch to the Resource Simulation module by clicking on the tab of the same name.
      • Change data like, e.g. requested dates for the required planning objects and click on the Calculate project button. As a result, a dialog message is displayed and the user is given three options:
        • If you click on the Resource Planning button, the capacity scheduling is carried out for the corresponding planning object.
        • If you click on the Unload button, the corresponding planning object is unloaded.
        • If you click on the Cancel button, the proposal is aborted.
      • Click on the Resource planning button.
      • Check the changed resource situation in the Utilization or Utilization by Skills modules.

    Details

    • In addition to requested dates, the values in the Code name, Prio and Planning type fields can be changed, which can also lead to a new resource situation.
    • You also have the option to change requested dates graphically by moving the requested end date bars or individual requested dates (requested start and requested end) to the right window.
    • In order to calculate all existing planning objects, click on the Capacity Scheduling button or on the Edit Scheduling Capacity scheduling or Edit Scheduling Unload menu items.

    Tips

    • It is recommended to select own codes for ideas and proposals, so that the resource utilization of these objects is displayed separated by color.
    • The project overview and the histograms can also be displayed by time on top of/below one another by positioning the Utilization tab at the bottom..

    Legend
    Symbol Meaning Color Comment
Wunsch.png Requested dates   Requested start and Requested end are defined in the Key dates area in the corresponding core data sheet (Project Core Data, Idea Core Data, Program Core Data).
Kalk.png Calculated dates The bar color is defined by the code of the planning object.
    A.png Code A
    B.png Code B
    C.png Code C
    D.png Code D
    E.png Code E
Calc. start and Calc. end of a planning object are determined in the calculation of the schedule of the respective planning object.
In the Planning Objects (In Table Form) module, the code of planning objects is defined and can be changed; for projects and proposals this can also be done in the Project Core Data and Proposal Core Data modules.

Puffer.png Float   Float is available if the calculated end date (Calc. end) of the planning object is earlier than the requested end date (Requested end).
Verzug.png Date delay   A date delay occurs if the calculated end date (Calc. end) of the planning horizon is later than the requested end date (Requested end).
The date delay bar immediately follows the bar for calculated dates and is customized with a color gradient so that the red color has various shades.
